Manchester Geomatics is working as part of a consortium, led by ECOTEC, undertaking an assessment of the housing market and it's role in supporting economic growth across the Manchester City Region. The work has been commissioned by AGMA (the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities). Manchester Geomatics’ role has been to assemble a set of baseline information to underpin the whole project, and to make it available to partner organisations.

The work included:

  • agreeing key data requirements.
  • assembling a metadata base of available information, from published and local sources.
  • auditing existing data sets, reporting on data availability, and recommending ways forward to fill information gaps.
  • recommending a core set of indicators for a city-region maintained data set.
  • putting forward a business case for long term maintenance of this data, and a range of options for appropriate machinery and processes to take it forward.
  • collecting available information and making it available to partners through a map enabled web based system based on MGL’s standard system architecture.
