Geographic Enquiry and Display Interface
Overview
Our user-friendly Geographic Enquiry and Display Interface (GEDI) software is a low cost,
modular geographic information system (GIS) that can be tailored to meet requirements. Our Web GIS enables the integration, sharing and
dissemination of spatial data between organisations or departments, with secure handling of sensitive data.
GEDI helps users answer a range of questions including "How is the data changing over time?", "What is my area like?"
and "Where is my nearest ...?". Read more about how the GEDI data structure supports these questions in the
GEDI data cube PowerPoint document (about 1mb).
Our GEDI software was designed following an extensive consultation process with users and clients. We continue to work closely
with our customers to modify the systems capabilities in order to meet their ongoing needs.
Have a look at the GEDI (www.GEDI.org.uk) demonstration
or one of our case studies to see how these tools work and can be combined
together to produce effective solutions to your business needs.
Features
GEDI contains several components that can be combined to suit your particular needs.
Have a look at the GEDI data cube PowerPoint document (about 1mb) for an
overview of each aspect of the system and its intended purpose. In summary, GEDI includes the following:
- Easy-to-use spatial components for navigating through your data including flexible map legends.
These mapping and charting components use Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Microsoft's Silverlight plugin will be supported in mid 2008.
- Sophisticated searching, enabled by well structured data with detailed metadata
-
All data, statistical, services and the spatial data, is all stored in an industry standard database. GEDI has been
tested for use with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL. As such, GEDI does not need any other 3rd party GIS software
to render maps or import, export and analyse spatial information.
-
Open standards and W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) compliant interfaces.
Data import and export has been designed to support
OGC (Open GeoSpatial Consortium) guidelines and so integration
with other GIS products is easy, if required.
-
Powerful reporting tools including:
- Aggregation and Presentation of Data based on specialist themes
- Intuitive data views including maps, tables and charts
- On-line administration tools for uploading, aggregating and editing data that make it easy to update and manage data
- Where’s My Nearest…?
- What’s My Neighbourhood like…?
- Document and Report Archive
- Online Help and Getting Started Guides
- Different types of user login approaches and security models. This can include a whole range from online registration
for new users to the use of secure HTTPS protocols for sensitive information.
